13-Year-Old Created Plans for Attack at Synagogue

(ConservativeHub.com) – A boy, aged 13, was recently accused of sharing plans on social media for a mass shooting at an Ohio synagogue.

The teen, whose identity has not been released to the public because of his age, was accused of plotting an attack against Temple Israel located in Canton. The Stark County Family Court Juvenile Division court documents filed show that he was charged with two misdemeanors for inducing panic and disorderly conduct.

According to the court documents, the teen produced a detailed plan about how to carry out a mass shooting at the synagogue which he proceeded to share through Discord, a messaging platform.

The incident was reported to law enforcement back in September of this year, which led to them launching a probe. The threat also resulted in certain public individuals, the school system, and other agencies being notified about the teen’s plan.

On December 19, Reuters reported that the boy pleaded guilty to the accusations late last week. The judge has reportedly ordered the teen to spend a year on probation, go to counseling, ad have no unsupervised internet access. He will also have to write a report about Carl Lutz, a diplomat known for helping many Jews during World War II.

Following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war, there has been an increase in hate crimes against the Jewish community, according to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). The advocacy group frequently has spoken out against antisemitism and extremism.

Following the October 7 attack on Israel by Hamas, and the start of the war in the region, ADL has reported that in the United States, there have been over 2,000 acts of antisemitism. This marks a large increase when in 2022 during the same period there had been 465 incidents.
