(ConservativeHub.com) – On Wednesday, November 8, eight people were killed in a car chase, after the car, which was believed to have been transporting smuggled migrants, fled from the police and ended up crashing into another vehicle on the road.

The incident took place after 6:30 a.m. when an individual suspected of being a human smuggler in a Honda Civic allegedly started to flee from Zavala County deputies. The car ended up passing a semi-trailer truck while in a no-passing zone on the highway and crashed right into a Chevrolet that was heading the other way.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has confirmed that following the collision, the Chevrolet ended up bursting into flames which resulted in both the passenger and driver losing their lives.

The driver of the other vehicle, as well as all five passengers, also tragically died. It is confirmed that those who died came from Honduras. However, according to The Hill, their identified had not been revealed as of November 9.

The photos taken from the site show that the Chevrolet had visible burns. However, the police have not disclosed what the speed the vehicle was traveling was. The accident had occurred close to Batesville which is around 80 miles away from San Antonio.
This is the highest death toll in a car crash that involves migrants since 2021 when a crash resulted in 13 people losing their lives.

In Texas, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) indicated it had concerns about the pursuit of vehicles that contain migrants.
