(ConservativeHub.com) – On Sunday, July 14, following the failed assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump the previous day, ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos stated that Trump and his supporters had been a big part of the “violent rhetoric” in the country.

On Saturday, during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks allegedly attempted to assassinate Trump by shooting at him from a rooftop perch that was around 130 yards from Trump’s location. Crooks allegedly struck Trump’s right ear.

Stephanopoulos during ABC’s “This Week” said that many prominent GOP members, including former Republican candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, have put out statements in which they are criticizing the left for the extreme rhetoric that has emerged. However, the host argued that this is violent rhetoric that both Trump and his supporters have also contributed to.

Reporter Martha Raddatz agreed with Stephanopoulos and said that even some of Trump’s statements from earlier that day had contributed to the rhetoric. She continued by highlighting how in March, Trump had stated that if he is not “elected,” then there would be a “bloodbath” in the country. She said that Trump has claimed this latter comment to be a joke that was taken out of context. He was reportedly talking about the state of the economy.

Still, Raddatz maintained that Trump supporters have often used similar rhetoric, and she encouraged Americans to remember the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack.

Crooks, in his apparently attempt to kill Trump, allegedly wounded two others and killed one of the rally attendees. Trump following the attempt could be seen with blood on his ear and face as he yelled for his supporters to “Fight!”
