(ConservativeHub.com) – On Sunday, July 21, President Joe Biden announced he was pulling out of the 2024 presidential race. This decision was revealed following weeks of pressure from within his own party to step aside.

Shortly after this announcement, Vice President Kamala Harris made clear that she would be seeking the nomination, and she already has many prominent backers on her side. One of them is Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).

Speaking on NBC News’ “Today,” Schiff praised Biden for choosing to drop his campaign and “put the country first.” He added that he thinks Biden wasn’t about to be “intimidated” or “pushed” into doing anything before he was ready. He also said he still has confidence in Biden’s ability to do his job, but was concerned about his ability to win the election.

On the subject of Harris, Schiff stated he thinks people are very “energized” and that he’s thrilled to put his support behind the Vice President. He expressed his excitement to work with her.

These remarks came just days after Schiff called for Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race. Schiff, who is currently running for the Senate in his state, told the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, July 17 hat Biden had been one of the “most consequential presidents” in U.S. history. He added that the country was currently at a “crossroads.”

However, he also asserted that a potential second Donald Trump presidency would undermine the country’s democracy. He added that he had a lot of concerns over whether or not Biden would be able to defeat Trump during the upcoming election cycle.

He pointed out that it was up to Biden to make the decision on whether or not he would withdraw from the presidential campaign. However, in his view, it was time for the torch to be passed on. He added that in making such a move, Biden would be securing his legacy while giving the Democrats the opportunity to defeat Trump in the upcoming presidential election.

Schiff also said that the Democratic nominee would his support, even if that nominee ended up being Biden. However, as he pointed out, the stakes right now are “too high.”
