Adviser Thinks Bernie Sanders Would Consider 2024 If Biden Bowed Out

Bernie Sanders Adviser Thinks He Would Consider 2024 If Biden Doesn't

( – The only 2024 presidential candidate who has officially announced a bid is former President Donald Trump (R). While President Joe Biden has indicated he is interested in running again, he has not made an official announcement. However, a top adviser to Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said the lawmaker would consider another run for the White House if Biden chooses to hang up his hat.

On Thursday, December 8, Faiz Shakir, an adviser to Sanders who managed the Vermont legislator’s 2020 presidential campaign, told CBS News that he believes his boss would give another presidency bid “a hard look” if Biden chooses to retire. He did emphasize that the senator from Vermont is “very aware that he’s older now” and would have to weigh if he has the mental stamina and passion for both the campaign and the actual job.

When Sanders ran to become the Democratic nominee in 2020, he faced an uphill battle against Joe Biden. He finally conceded the race to the former vice president on April 8, 2020, and endorsed him just a few days later. While Shakir is not personally preparing for his boss to run again, he did say that it’s not out of the question.

Should Biden choose not to take another shot at the presidency, Americans may consider adding Sanders to the list of Democrats eyeing up the White House, if Shakir turns out to be correct.
