( – It seems there are few areas of life where Amazon isn’t involved. News is now spreading that the company notorious for delivering anything Americans could desire to their doorstep in a day or two is pairing up with Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research to create a cancer vaccine.

In October 2021, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center first posted its clinical trial to for a neoantigen peptide vaccine for specific types and stages of melanoma and breast cancer. The listing notes Services LLC as a collaborator on the study.

The study began its Stage I trial on June 9, 2022, with an estimated completion date of November 1, 2023, and initially had 20 participants. This collaboration marks the delivery behemoth’s steady movement into the medical world. It launched a web-based pharmacy in 2020 and has been refining its telehealth service, Amazon Care, over the past year.

An Amazon spokesperson told CNBC the company wants to explore “the development of a personalized treatment for certain forms of cancer.” The representative also noted the business hopes this will be the first of many such endeavors.
