(ConservativeHub.com) – Few US citizens’ lives remained untouched by the raging drug epidemic facing our nation. With opioid overdoses hitting new highs during the coronavirus pandemic, both former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden put new policies in place to combat the flow of illicit drugs into the US. In the latest attempt to combat the problem, the US State Department just announced that it placed an enormous bounty on each of El Chapo’s sons.
On Wednesday, December 15, Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced in a press release the agency will provide up to a $5 million reward for information leading to the conviction or arrest of El Chapo’s sons, listed here:
- Ovidio Guzmán López
- Joaquín Guzmán López
- Ivan Archivaldo Guzmán Salazar
- Jesus Alfredo Guzmán Salazar

Each man is a leader within the Sinaloa Cartel and took over more responsibility in the family drug business after authorities arrested their father, Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán, in 2014. At the end of November, a judge sentenced El Chapo’s wife, Emma Coronel Aispuro, to three years in prison for her own involvement in the cartel.
The Federal government also placed bounties on three Chinese nationals for distributing acetyl fentanyl. So far, the State Department has provided over $155 million in rewards while pursuing various criminals and narcotics traffickers. Hopefully, this latest round of bounties will produce similar results.
