Biden Admin Just LIFTED Restrictions on Cuba – This Is Unbelievable!
(ConservativeHub.com) – The State Department issued a press release on May 16 detailing the Biden Administration’s desire to support the Cuban people by opening travel to Cuba, reinstating former programs, and removing remittance caps. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said the policy changes focus on supporting Cubans and providing them better access to freedom.
On June 1, the Department of Transportation responded to a White House order to lift travel restrictions to Cuba, placed during the Trump administration, banning planes originating from the US from landing anywhere on the island except Havana.
When former President Donald Trump imposed travel restrictions on Cuba in 2019 and 2020, he claimed the communist country used the influx of money it gained from US tourism and earnings sent by family members and businesses to fund its abuses. The former president didn’t want the totalitarian dictatorship to benefit from it. However, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said removing these policies is in America’s best interests.

The administration also will loosen caps and restrictions on sending money to people living in Cuba and plans to reenact the Cuban Family Reunification Parole (CFRP) Program. The program helps speed visa processing to bring Cubans to the US to live with family already here.
Lifting restrictions on murderous dictatorships, such as in Cuba and Venezuela, is morally wrong, economically short-sighted, and harms American national security.

On May 29, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo posted his opinion about the Biden administration’s stance on Twitter, calling the lifting of restrictions “morally wrong” and “economically short-sighted.” He also noted he believes it “harms American national security.”
