(ConservativeHub.com) – President Joe Biden recently blasted former President Donald Trump and his “MAGA” movement for attempting to “destroy American democracy.”
On September 18, during a fundraising event at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York, Biden claimed that MAGA Republicans and Trump were determined to ruin democracy in the country. He added that he was always going to fight for the protection of U.S. democracy.
He said the recent book bans and school shootings have frightened children from attending school while also emboldening hate groups. The Black Economic Alliance privately hosted the “Broadway for Biden” event, which required attendees to spend anywhere between $250 and $7,500 for a ticket. During his trip to New York, Biden also attended the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller was the one to introduce Biden to the stage, and he stated that the roughly 1,500 people in the audience were going to support his reelection campaign. He proceeded to state that all those in the audience were Biden’s “warriors” who were going to help protect the soul of the country and its democracy.
Apart from the speeches by Biden and Seller, the event also featured multiple performances from Tony Award Winning Broadway stars. These segments of the event were closed to the press.
Biden’s attendance at the event in New York showcased the President’s solidarity with the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA unions which continue to be on strike while the Actors’ Equity Association union continues to work. Still, Biden did not make any direct reference to this issue.
