(ConservativeHub.com) – President Joe Biden seems to be losing some appeal in Virginia, which could end up being a problem for the Democrats. The Left has won every presidential race in Virginia since 2008, but this winning streak could be under threat in 2024, reports suggest.

This week, Roanoke College released a new survey that showed that Biden and former President Donald Trump are tied in the state, with each of them receiving 42 percent support. Over the last month, there have been several polls released which have shown that Biden has a fairly small advantage over Trump. According to the Decision Desk HQ polling average, that slight lead is only at 1 percent, with Biden having 44.1 percent support while Trump has 43.1 percent.

This is quite different compared to 2020, when Biden was able to win the state with relative ease. The Hill reports that this could be a sign of greater struggle for the state of Virginia this year.

The University of Virginia Center for Politics director Larry Sabato has noted that Biden is not performing in the state as well as he did in the previous election, when he took victory in the state by 10 percent. However, he said Biden is still likely leading by a few points.

According to Sabato, Virginia is historically “more Democratic” than a lot of swing states, meaning it could be a problem for Biden if the state becomes a closer competition.

Sabato also noted that there are several things that could change things in the state, including the recent guilty verdict in Trump’s New York trial and the presidential debate between Trump and Biden which is set to take place in June.
