(ConservativeHub.com) – President Joe Biden continues nominating individuals with a questionable past for key administration positions. In September, he withdrew David Chipman’s name for consideration to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives over his support for firearm restrictions and apparent hostility to the gun manufacturing industry. Another Biden nominee now faces similarly intense examination for her open hostility towards America’s oil and gas companies.
Biden recently named Saule Omarova for the position of currency comptroller at the US Department of Treasury. However, her nomination faces intense scrutiny in the Senate Banking Committee due to her past remarks and apparent unwillingness to disclose requested information to committee members. For instance, in October Omarova was accused of refusing to turn over a copy of a thesis she wrote about Marxism during her time at Moscow State University.
Biden’s pick of Moscow State University’s Saule Omarova for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency is a grave threat to our economy.
She wants to destroy energy independence, wants to nationalize consumer banks, & she has called to "effectively end banking as we know it." https://t.co/7leGlQYyYr

Committee members have also expressed concerns regarding past statements Omarova made about gas companies. The American Accountability Foundation (AAF) recently posted a clip of Omarova speaking at a February seminar discussing social wealth. She told attendees of the video conference she supported the idea of forcing energy sector companies into bankruptcy to “tackle climate change.”
Conservatives like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) quickly spoke out against Omarova’s remarks. One must wonder whether this controversy could cost her support from Moderate Democrats like Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ).
