(ConservativeHub.com) – Representative Lauren Boebert, a Colorado Republican, tweeted a warning on Saturday morning urging people to “wait” and see everything that Republicans have planned following the five-day battle over the speakership. Boebert on Twitter said that if people thought the fight this past week was “good” then they should wait and see the fight that they would wage against President Joe Biden and the radical left.
The GOP lawmaker was one of the most vocal oppositions to House Republican Kevin McCarthy in his attempts to win the speakership. While speaking to the press on Tuesday, Boebert said that she had always been focused on working to unify the Republican party. She added that the votes that had taken place were not selfish but rather the natural results of McCarthy having at first dismissed them.
During a later interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier, Boebert further elaborated by saying that the deal reached included “putting forward a border security bill, putting forward a term limits bill,” and other “common sense” requests.
By Friday night Boebert was one of only six House Republicans to continue holding out on her vote. However, on the 14th ballot, she switched her vote to “present” which resulted in applause from her fellow lawmakers. McCarthy managed to be elected as Speaker of the House after the 15th ballot. This incident of the Speaker not being elected after the first ballot had not occurred in more than 100 years.
The chaos that ensued over the Speakership has led to many questioning what the House will look like for the next two years under Republican leadership.
