(ConservativeHub.com) – The potential for President Joe Biden to launch a 2024 campaign is drawing closer, and progressive buzz about finding a replacement for him has “flamed out,” The Hill reports.
Both wings of the Democratic party appear to like the direction that the President is taking his campaign. The Democratic primary also has a lack of alternative candidates with no alternatives currently being considered, according to The Hill. Progressives have long considered what position Biden would choose for the 2024 campaign, as throughout his administration he has moved between the middle and the left on different issues.
However, following the State of the Union address, Biden appears to have gained the support of the liberal side of the party.
A Democratic consultant, Angelo Greco, who has previously worked on Senator Bernie Sanders’ campaign, said that the address had been good and that if Biden did a great job of pointing out his priorities in a way that was attractive to the progressives as well. Many progressives were reportedly very happy with Biden’s address as many of them believe taxes, the entitlement programs, and health care are key issues that they need to tackle.
While there is only so much that Biden could cover within one speech, there were many who said that the State of the Union address had been a pleasant surprise which proved that the direction being taken in American politics had shifted.
Co-founder of Progressive Change Campaign Committee, Adam Green, also spoke positively about Biden’s approach to protecting Social Security.
