Chuck Schumer Says Democrats May Move Forward With Stimulus Bill Without GOP Support

(ConservativeHub.com) – Joe Biden campaigned on a promise to unite the country in the wake of the onslaught of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it appears that, once again, Democrats remain focused more on talk and less on action. For example, after barely a week in office, the Biden administration appears uninterested in working across the aisle with Republicans to pass a new COVID-19 relief package.

On January 26, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told reporters that he and Senate Democrats planned to work directly with the Biden administration on the measure, effectively ignoring Republican input.

Such a move would be devastating for Republican-led efforts to rebuild the country in the wake of the economic ruin created by mandatory quarantines and other overly aggressive restrictions.

Fortunately, as Sen. Mitch McConnell pointed out, running the country requires both parties. The Senate is split 50/50, and Democrats have the smallest margin in the House they’ve had for decades.

Besides, the proposed bill is way too expensive for consideration, given the current economic challenges already facing the country. It’s time for Schumer to roll up his sleeves and get to work with Republicans.
