(ConservativeHub.com) – Former President Donald Trump is seemingly capable of making money from anything, including his mug shot from the Fulton County jail. However, while his decision to make merchandise with the photo could have made him millions of dollars, it may have also been in violation of U.S. copyright law. Some reports like SheKnows are now indicating that he might be in a position to lose the profits.

Politico in a recent report noted that Trump made more than $7 million in sales from his “Never Surrender” merchandise, which included everything from t-shirts to coffee mugs. Within the first week of the merchandise going on sale after his indictment in the Georgia case, Trump made millions. Still, a University of Georgia School of Law’s Journal of Intellectual Property Law article from 2022 stated that in the case of mug shots or photos taken during the booking process, then the law enforcement agency is considered the author of the photos and thus, has the copyright for the shots.

This could allow the Fulton County sheriff to potentially go after the former President in order to gain access to the profits he made from using the image. An MSNBC report also noted that if Fulton County was really needing funds, then this could be the perfect opportunity for them. It further noted that this would allow them to deal with the Fulton County Jail’s poor conditions, and it would be another legal storm against Trump.
