(ConservativeHub.com) – Baseball fans are known for their dedication in attempting to catch foul balls, but sometimes their enthusiasm can lead to unfortunate situations. Such an incident took place during a college baseball game between N.C. State Wolfpack and Campbell Fighting Camels in Columbia, South Carolina, which was also a regional elimination game. This incident gained significant attention after a video of the event went viral.
Fox News recently reported that in this particular game, a father was determined to retrieve a foul ball hit by a Wolfpack player that landed in the pavilion area beyond the stands. What made the situation alarming was that he was carrying a small child while attempting to chase after the ball. The video captured the moment when the man lost his balance and fell while trying to catch the ball.
Despite his initial failed attempt, the man made another effort to grab the ball, but his second try was also unsuccessful. Unfortunately, both he and the child fell, with the child appearing to hit their head during the fall.
The incident caught the attention of an ESPN announcer, who remarked that individuals should ensure they don’t have a child in their care before going after a ball.
On the field, the Campbell Fighting Camels achieved a convincing 11-1 victory over the N.C. State Wolfpack, enabling them to avoid elimination in the regional tournament. However, their success was short-lived as they faced a subsequent loss against the South Carolina Gamecocks later that day, with a final score of 16-7.
