(ConservativeHub.com) – To describe social media platforms’ relationship with former President Donald Trump as anything less than extremely hostile would likely qualify as the understatement of the year and perhaps the decade. All the major platforms canceled his accounts shortly after the January 6 riot at the nation’s capital. Finally, after months of speculation, Trump is punching back in a big way.
On Wednesday, October 20, Donald Trump’s chief spokesperson, Liz Harrington, announced the merger of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) and Digital World Acquisitions, subject to stockholder and regulatory approval. Initial estimates place the enterprise value of the joint venture at about $875 million, with an anticipated earnout of a near-comparable amount.

Notably, the announcement included news that the TMTG plans to launch a new social media network designed to serve as a Conservative alternative to established Big Tech platforms. Aptly named TRUTH Social, the network is already available for pre-order in Apple’s app store. Prospective users can also join the platform’s waiting list at www.TRUTHsocial.com.
TMTG plans to launch a beta version for approved guests sometime in November 2021. In addition, TMTG intends to conduct a nationwide rollout of TRUTH Social during the first annual quarter of 2022.
TRUTH Social Versus Big Tech
Harrington’s announcement confirmed the former president created TMTG for the express purpose of going toe-to-toe with big tech giants, although she didn’t cite the companies by name.
As the announcement explained, TMTG aims to “create a rival to the liberal media consortium” and push back against Silicon Valley’s Big Tech companies. Continuing, Harrington confirmed the new company’s commitment to combating the “unilateral power” wielded by tech companies and their long-standing effort to “silence opposing voices in America.”
The announcement also stated that TMTG’s official mission is to give everyone a voice. The TRUTH Social website echoed that sentiment, noting that the platform serves as “America’s ‘Big Tent,'” a platform that “encourages” open and honest conversation and that doesn’t discriminate against users based on their political leanings.
“I created TRUTH Social… to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech [companies],” the former president explained. “We live in a world” that allows the Taliban to reach massive numbers of individuals using traditional social media platforms. At the same time, “your favorite American President has been silenced,” Donald Trump added.
Trump concluded his remarks expressing his excitement at having the opportunity to “send out [his] first TRUTH… very soon” and lead the fight against Big Tech companies. “Everyone asks… why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech?… We will be soon!”
