Donald Trump Makes Crucial Endorsement During Latest Speech

( – The 2022 midterm election may be more than a year away, but several Republicans are already attempting to leverage their position heading into the primary season. Endorsements can make or break a candidate’s likelihood of success, and no backing is as coveted as that of former President Donald Trump.

Trump gave his “total endorsement” to the Senate campaign of Rep. Ted Budd (R-NC) during his June 5 speech at the North Carolina Republican Convention. Budd is one of several Republicans hoping to replace Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), who recently announced he wasn’t seeking reelection in 2022.

North Carolinians first elected Budd to the US House in 2016, where he has served as a strong conservative voice. He opposes Obamacare and unchecked immigration. Meanwhile, he supports strong election laws and opposes the Democratic-led voting bill, the For the People Act.

He joined 146 other Republican House members in objecting to the Electoral College ballots on January 6, and he was one of 126 House members who signed an amicus brief supporting a US Supreme Court lawsuit contesting Pennsylvania’s 2020 presidential election results.

Rep. Budd has a solid record of supporting conservative values and Donald Trump’s vision to “Make America Great Again.”
