(ConservativeHub.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris finally visited the border on June 25, more than 90 days after President Joe Biden appointed her to lead the administration’s response to the crisis there. Harris had been under increasing pressure to schedule a visit. Why did she do it when she did? Former President Donald Trump may have the answer.
Trump held his first post-presidency rally on Saturday, June 26. He told the Wellington, Ohio, crowd Harris visited the border for “one simple reason,” his June 15 announcement that he “was going.” Continuing, he said he was unsure if Harris ever would have visited the border had he not announced he was going.

Trump’s remarks echoed a June 23 statement he issued, noting Harris would never have gone to the border were it not for his upcoming visit to Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R). Trump also blamed the crisis at the nation’s southern border on Biden’s decision to end “[Trump’s] very tough but fair Border policies.”

Asked about the timing of the vice president’s border visit, White House press secretary Jen Psaki sidestepped the question, stating the administration “made an assessment” regarding “the appropriate time” for her visit.
Perhaps former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows put it best when he noted that it took over 90 days and a Trump visit for Harris to “suddenly care” about the crisis at the US-Mexico border. “Trump is leading” while Biden administration officials “are following,” he concluded.
