Donald Trump Supports Former Official at Campaign Event

( – President Donald Trump had a busy weekend. He gave an impromptu speech at a fundraising event at Mar-a-Lago on Friday. On Saturday, he received a framed copy of a resolution from the Alabama GOP declaring him one of the country’s “greatest and most effective presidents.”

On Sunday, March 14, Trump made an unannounced appearance at a campaign event for his former press secretary, Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Sanders announced her candidacy in Arkansas’s 2022 gubernatorial election on January 25.

The former president quickly followed up with a lengthy endorsement of Sanders’ campaign during a Fox News interview. “Sarah is strong on borders,” he said. She is “tough on crime,” supports the 2nd Amendment, and loves the nation’s veterans and active-duty members of the military. She will “always fight” for the people of her home state of Arkansas, he explained.

Trump reportedly urged Sanders to enter the race shortly after she announced she was leaving the White House in 2019. He followed up on the suggestion at the time by tweeting, “She would be fantastic.”

Sanders follows in the steps of her father, Mike Huckabee, who served as governor of Arkansas from 1996 to 2007.
