(ConservativeHub.com) – On Tuesday, July 23, former Republican adviser Mark McKinnon stated that he found Sen. JD Vance’s (R-Ohio) recent remarks about Diet Mountain Dew during a rally to be “cringe.”
During an appearance on “CNN This Morning,” McKinnon told anchor Katie Hunt that he considered it to be a “cringe moment” and argued that it testified to something that they were hearing more and more about, which is that former President Donald Trump’s campaign is having second thoughts about Vance being selected as the vice president.
On Monday, while talking to supporters in a rally in Ohio, Vance said that the Democrats have claimed that doing anything is racist. He then joked that he had a Diet Mountain Dew for the past two days and that he was sure that one day, they would also claim that was racist. However, he added, “It’s good.”
McKinnon stated in the interview that Vance was selected by the Trump campaign when they had believed that they would be going against President Joe Biden this fall. He said they believed they were in a comfortable position and that they could just select someone who was very popular with the MAGA voters. However, Vance currently cannot expand the Republican party’s voter base and does not expand their base of support, according to McKinnon.
On Sunday, Biden announced that he was dropping out of the presidential race leaving Vice President Kamala Harris to be the presumptive Democratic nominee. The Democrats believe Harris is going to be a stronger candidate who will be able to better convey the party’s message.
