(ConservativeHub.com) – A family member of the 12-year-old girl allegedly murdered in June opened up and extended his “blessings” to former President Donald Trump, according to a new report.
Kelvin Alvarenga, the grandfather of Jocelyn Nungaray, responded to a question about Trump contacting the family after the 12-year-old’s death, allegedly at the hands of two Venezuelan nationals who were in Texas illegally.
Speaking to FOX 26 Houston, Alvarenga shared his “blessings” to Trump, stating, “God bless him,” when reporters asked what he thought of the former President reaching out to Nungaray’s mother.
The former President reportedly contacted Jocelyn’s family minutes before taking the debate stage against President Joe Biden and went on to reference the “horrible” murder of the 12-year-old during the June 27 presidential debate.
The 12-year-old’s grandmother also argued Jocelyn’s murder was the result of “open borders.”
However, her grandfather noted he didn’t want Jocelyn to become a “political base,” adding that he wants people to also “know her name.”
Franklin Jose Peña Ramos, 26, and Johan Jose Martinez-Rangel, 21, the alleged perpetrators, are suspected of assaulting the 12-year-old and killing her after they lured her beneath a bridge in Houston.
If found guilty of assault, Ramos and Martinez-Rangel could be sentenced to death, something Jocelyn’s family is against. Instead, they’ve suggested the two suspects spend the rest of their lives in a prison’s “general population” and receive “life without parole,” allowing them to contemplate the “horrific deal” their actions have caused her family.
The pair have been charged with capital murder.
