(ConservativeHub.com) – On Saturday, June 12, a group of hikers made a grisly discovery at Maryland’s Catoctin Mountain Park; the skeletal remains of a woman’s foot inside a red Nike sneaker. The FBI’s Evidence Response Team and agents from the Baltimore field office arrived on the scene the following day and discovered the rest of the woman’s body about sixty yards away. However, her other foot and a hand were nowhere to be found.
The remains were fully skeletonized, indicating the body was likely in the park for between one and six months. However, FBI supervisory special agent Richard Ruggieri told reporters the remains probably had been in the woods for closer to two months. According to Ruggieri, the lightweight fabric of the woman’s tracksuit meant it was probably relatively warm outside when the woman wore it.

Ruggieri explained that the woman “has a story to tell,” and the first step toward learning more was finding out her identity. To aid that effort, the FBI and local news outlets posted photographs of the woman’s clothing and other items found with her body on social media sites. The FBI has also set up a webpage displaying the images and a call for the public’s help in identifying the woman.
If you have any information regarding the woman’s identity or about any person who went missing over the last six months, you can contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324). You can also leave a tip online at www.tips.fbi.gov or contact your local FBI field office.
