(ConservativeHub.com) – On Saturday, October 14, during a speech in California Chris Wray, the FBI Director, warned that there have been increased domestic threats as a result of the escalating conflict between Israel and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
During his speech at the San Diego International Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference, Wray started off by offering his condolences to the Israeli people. He proceeded to share his outrage over the recent events that have caused the lives of so many people to be lost. He added that throughout history, there have been many incidents of violent extremism and antisemitism, from both foreign and domestic extremists. He then pointed out that it was completely unacceptable for a community to be solely targeted because of their faith, which is why they were committed to eliminating those threats both within the United States and overseas.
He added that in the current climate, there has been a spike in the reported threats which has meant that they will continue to be on the lookout for both extremist groups and lone actors who might be motivated to commit violence as a result of the recent events. He proceeded to encourage everyone to remain vigilant as they are the first line of defense in ensuring that their communities are going to be protected. He then encouraged all those in attendance to share observations and intelligence that they might have.
Wray also noted that the FBI would on their end do the same thing in order to help safeguard these communities. The warning came only a few days after it was revealed that many U.S. cities have increased their security levels in response to concerns about the escalating conflict and the effects it could have on communities across the country.
