Former Actor Pleads Guilty to Attempted Child Endangerment Charges

(ConservativeHub.com) – Drake Bell is known for his role on Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh,” which ran for four seasons from 2004 to 2007. Since then, he’s worked primarily as a musician on a variety of labels. An Ohio grand jury indicted Bell on May 21 on a fourth-degree felony charge of attempted endangerment of children and a first-degree misdemeanor charge of disseminating matter harmful to juveniles.

Cleveland police processed Bell on the charges, and he pleaded not guilty on June 3. A Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson said the charges stemmed from an encounter with a 15-year-old girl he met online. The incident reportedly occurred at a Cleveland concert in December 2017. Later, she filed a criminal complaint with Canadian authorities in 2018, and the case was referred to the Cleveland Police Department.

On Wednesday, June 23, the actor and musician pleaded guilty to both charges before Cuyahoga County Judge Timothy McCormick in the Court of Common Pleas using Zoom.

Judge McCormick advised Bell (aged 34) that the felony charge carries a 6 to 18 months prison term and a fine of up to $5,000. The misdemeanor charge carries up to 6 months in county jail and a fine of $1,000. McCormick also advised him that prison time isn’t mandatory, but he would be subject to supervision for three years post-release if he spends any time behind bars on the felony charge.

The court scheduled Bell’s next hearing on July 12.
