(ConservativeHub.com) – California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) recently stated that former President Donald Trump wants to bring the United States back to the “pre-1960s world.”
Newsom reportedly argued that Trump wants to roll the country back when it comes to several issues such as civil, LGBTQ, and voting rights. On Thursday, July 4, during remarks that were captured by Fox News, he expressed his belief that Trump wants the U.S. to turn backward.
Newsom, who is a vocal supporter of President Joe Biden, has often been critical of not only Trump, but also Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in the last year and a half. His vocal opposition has brought him into to the spotlight and have increased his presence around the country. While this has caused speculation to arise about Newsom’s future in politics, he has stated in the past that he’s not interested in seeking the Presidential nomination over Biden.
Late last month, the first presidential debate led to an increasing number of Democrats pushing for Biden to drop out of the presidential race, as many have expressed concerns about his health and ability to be in office for another term. Biden has continued to reject calls to step aside, although he admitted in an interview that he had a “bad night” and took responsibility for his heavily criticized performance.
Newsom has continued to support Biden, noting in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Biden has “had our back” all this time and it was time to do the same for him.
