GOP Leaders Turned Away From DEA Facility at Border

( – President Joe Biden’s lax border security measures are creating increasingly serious problems for the country. The head of the DEA’s El Paso Division, Special Agent Kyle Williamson, recently told Fox News his office has seized more drugs so far in 2021 than in 2019 and 2020 combined.

According to Williamson, marijuana was the only drug experiencing a decrease in seizures this year. Other drugs like cocaine, methamphetamines, heroin and other opiates are flooding across the border at increased levels.

On May 25, an El Paso DEA-operated migrant center reportedly denied entry to a group of 12 Republican lawmakers. Fox News investigative reporter Sara Carter spoke to several of them, and they blamed the decision to block their inspection directly on the White House.

Rep. Mike Garcia (R-CA) said the congressional delegation had been trying to access the detention center for a couple of weeks. Rep. Brian Babin (R-TX) questioned what the Biden administration was trying to hide. “What don’t they want us to see?” he asked.

Lawmakers have a constitutional duty to oversee taxpayer-funded facilities. It’s bad enough the Biden administration appears unwilling to visit the border to see what’s happening firsthand. What gives them the right to obstruct legislators from performing their sworn duties?
