(ConservativeHub.com) – On Tuesday, May 14, the eldest grandson of former President Jimmy Carter revealed that after his grandfather had spent over a year in hospice care, his time was “coming to the end.”
The Carter Center Board of Trustees chair Jason Carter appeared at the 28th Rosalynn Carter Georgia Mental Health forum, where he spoke about his grandparents. His grandmother, former first lady Rosalynn Carter, passed away back in November at the age of 96.
While addressing the audience, Jason Carter stated that the passing of his grandmother had been very hard for them as a family, including for his grandfather. He added that this was the first forum that his grandmother was not present for, but that his family had received a lot of support and love from the attendees and others around the world. He proceeded to thank the community on behalf of his entire family for helping to turn the death of the former first lady a celebration of the years she lived.
He proceeded to give an update regarding his grandfather, who is currently 99 years old. Jimmy Carter is currently the oldest US president still living. Jason provided assurance during his remarks that his grandfather was doing okay, but added that he believes he is nearing the end of life.
He added that much like he had said in the past, his grandfather’s faith journey was very important to him, and that there was a part of that that he would only be able to experience at the end.
