He’s RESIGNED – White House Notified!

CBP Head Hands in Resignation

CBP Commissioner Hands in Resignation

(ConservativeHub.com) – In October, Senate-confirmed Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) Commissioner Chris Magnus came under fire for having a poor rapport with colleagues, failing to attend meetings, and falling asleep in meetings, as reported by POLITICO. At the time, the federal agency leader defended himself, noting the tiredness was a side effect of a medication to deal with his multiple sclerosis. However, about a month after these accusations came to light, Magnus forfeited his job.

On Friday, November 11, Magnus spoke with the Los Angeles Times to disclose that Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas had lost faith in him and told him he would fire him if he didn’t resign. But, the CBP Commissioner, who has a decades-long history serving in law enforcement, told the outlet he refused.

However, the following day, Magnus gave way to the pressure and turned in a resignation letter to President Joe Biden, which the White House shared on its website. The now-former CBP Commissioner wrote that it was “a privilege and honor” to serve the Biden Administration, wishing POTUS and his cabinet “the very best going forward.”

After the news of Magnus’s resignation, Fox News Digital published a piece bringing light to criticism from Republicans. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) quipped that the Biden administration had found its “fall guy” for the situation at the border, insisting that DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is the one who should be held accountable. Other lawmakers such as Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) and Rep. August Pfluger (R-TX) also shared this sentiment, according to the outlet.

This departure leaves the federal agency without a Senate-confirmed leader. Deputy Commissioner Troy Miller will temporarily fill the slot. Border patrol has continued to deal with immense surges in illegal immigration for two years and poor morale.
