(ConservativeHub.com) – According to a report from Fox News, Neighbors Together Oakland founder Seneca Scott claimed recently that “unlivable” situations have been created in the California city as a result of the drug market, high crime rates, and the lack of camping regulations. He said that many of those who were homeless in the streets of Oakland were not originally from the area, but rather “drug tourists.” He added that the area had been fentanyl’s promised land, which is why so many people were coming to the area.

Scott further said that in recent months there has been an increase in the number of people who have arrived at “Fentanyl Island,” an area located between Brush St. and 7th St. In his own description, he stated that this area was a sort of open-air drug market that had become the home of many burned-out vehicles. He added that the reason so many people were coming to that area was because of how easy and accessible their drugs of choice were in the area, and that it was also easy for them to steal while being in the area because there was no rule of law.

Fox News reported that according to data from the city, homelessness more than doubled between 2015 and 2022, reaching more than 5,000 people. Scott said that the increase in homelessness has also led to a drastic decrease in property value, which along with the policies followed by the government had meant that the value of people’s homes had plummeted. An Oakland Property manager previously made a similar statement during an interview with Fox News.
