(ConservativeHub.com) – The House Republicans are following through with one of their campaign promises by leading investigations on the situation at the southern border. In an attempt to bring more attention to the topic, they decided to schedule the second part of the hearings on the “Biden Border Crisis” in Yuma, Arizona on February 23.

However, House Democrats said last week that they would not attend the House Judiciary Committee’s hearing as they had not received proper consultation prior to the hearing. This is disputed by the Republicans who claim that proper warning was provided.

This is not the only time when a visit or hearing to the border has caused tension between the two parties. On Thursday, Speaker McCarthy led a group of freshmen Republicans who had flipped previously Democratic seats to a visit along the U.S.- Mexico border.

According to Fox News, the Democrats have claimed that the move was a “stunt” and that they were not previously consulted about the visit. In March, House Democrats are planning on taking an official trip to the border.

Ranking member Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., and Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., have further accused the Judiciary Republicans of not trying to come up with real solutions to handle the border crisis. They also alleged that the hearing would not include any federal government witnesses which just further shows that the hearing is a political stunt.

The Republicans have reiterated that the House Democrats were given a three week notice, even though a one-week notice would be enough based on the technical requirements.
