Infamous Weather Underground Radical Dies

Leftist Radical DEAD – She’s Gone!

( – In 1981, Weather Underground, a radical militant organization, carried off a bank heist with the Black Liberation Army near New York City. During the crime, they killed a security guard and two police officers. Member Kathy Boudin served 22 years in prison for her part, leaving incarceration in 2003. Fox News reported she died on May 1 at 78 from cancer.

The robbery happened in October 1981 when the two groups worked together to stop a Brink’s armored truck. They got around $1.6 million and killed the guard, Peter Paige. The money went into a waiting U-Haul in which Boudin was a passenger.

As the crew took off from the initial scene, they came upon a roadblock set up by law enforcement. Two of Boudin’s accomplices shot at the officers, killing two of them, Waverly Brown and Edward O’Grady.

Boudin tried to flee from the police, but she ended up surrendering. The New York Post reported she spent the next two decades behind bars for first-degree robbery and second-degree murder. After she got out in 2003, she began working as a teacher. Columbia University hired her in 2008.

Boudin’s father was a civil rights attorney, which led her to become an activist. Weather Underground was known for its often violent anti-Vietnam war rhetoric. She was also the mother of San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin, who was only 14 months old when his mother went to prison, according to a May 2 report from The Guardian.
