(ConservativeHub.com) – Former President Donald Trump’s team has been looking to get the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case dismissed on the basis that some of the records had been shuffled around after being taken by government officials. Special counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutors have defended their handling of the files, however, noting that they had to search through a “cluttered collection of keepsakes” in Trump’s house in Florida.

On Monday, June 24, in a filing, the prosecutors said that Trump had chosen to keep some of the country’s most guarded secretaries in boxes along with his keepsakes. They added that among the documents there were “newspapers,” magazines, clothes, ornaments, and even photographs of himself with others. They referred to this as the “haphazard manner” in which Trump had kept his boxes, adding that he is claiming that the order in which the documents were stored after he exited the White House in 2021 is important.

Trump’s team has criticized the prosecutors over the order of the documents being changed during the transportation and the fact that they were not in the precise order that they were in upon removal from Mar-a-Lago. The filing on Monday included a detailed breakdown of how the FBI had undertaken the search, According to prosecutors, “box-to-box integrity” was maintained when it came to the documents handled.

The filing stated that the FBI agents responsible for the search were professional and thorough, especially considering how cluttered the boxes were and how many classified documents were retained by Trump.
