(ConservativeHub.com) – On Thursday, May 25, while delivering a speech, first lady Jill Biden did not get the response she thought she would get to one of the lines she delivered. She proceeded to make a comment about it which prompted the crowd to applaud.

While speaking to the crowd, Biden said she’s visited both GOP and Democrat-leaning parts of the country, and she’s discovered that “the common values that unite us are deeper than our divisions.” She then proceeded to take a brief pause; however, the crowd did not react to her statement. Biden then quipped that she thought the crowd would applaud after that line, which led to the crowd doing exactly that.

Biden’s speech took place in D.C. during the Reagan Institute Summit on Education (RISE). The Ronald Reagan Foundation and Institute has stated on its website that the yearly conference is meant to host US education leaders. This year’s two-day conference was specifically meant to address practices and policies involving education for kids, teens, and young adults. and to examine how the education system needed to be changed in order to be best prepared about the challenges brought forth in the coming century.

Apart from Biden, other attendees who made speeches included former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchison (R) and Maryland Governor Wes Moore (D).

Many people on social media offered criticism to the first lady for this interaction, with one Twitter user stating that no one was clapping for her because no one believed her, according to a Fox News report.
