(ConservativeHub.com) – In a statement to Fox News Digital, Republican Rep. Jim Jordan (Ohio), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, revealed he had proposed an appropriation package to “defund the lawfare activities” of federal and state prosecutors heading up “politically sensitive investigations.”
Jordan highlighted Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis as examples.
Jordan’s proposal comes days after former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records — the result of charges introduced against the former President by Bragg.
Trump is currently awaiting a Supreme Court ruling that will determine if he is immune to January 6 insurrection charges brought against him by Special Counsel Jack Smith.
Smith is also leading an investigation into Trump’s classified records case, for which a trial date is yet to be set.
Meanwhile, in Georgia, Trump faces charges of election interference brought by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis.
On Monday, June 3, Jordan sent his proposal to Republican Rep. Tom Cole (Oklahoma), chairman of House Appropriations.
In his proposal, Jordan wrote that the Judiciary Committee and its “Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government” was continuing its “vigorous oversight” of the Biden Administration to protect the “fundamental freedoms” of Americans.
Jordan has successfully helped put reforms into effect through the appropriations process. Last year, the Ohio Republican had several proposals included in Subcommittee or Full Committee-passed bills.
These included proposals to “prohibit the funding” for “politically sensitive” probes, “disastrous” immigration policies, and government censorship, in addition to preventing the use of taxpayer funds when implementing “radical regulations,” and “protect[ing] whistleblowers from retaliation.”
