(ConservativeHub.com) – In an interview with Fox News, Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.V., who previously revealed that he would not be seeking re-election, argued during an interview that the GOP needs to be made “grand again” while the Democratic Party needs to once again become “responsible.” He also said, when asked, that he believes former President Donald Trump could win back the White House.
On Tuesday, May 14, voters from West Virginia, the state that Manchin is a senator for, were set to vote in the primary election.
During an interview on “One Nation” with host Brian Kilmeade over the weekend, Manchin argued that he came from a place with “hardworking” and “pragmatic” people. He said that these were people who did not want to have the government on their back trying to tell them what to do. Instead, he said what they believe in is democracy, freedom, a helping hand, and getting things done.
Manchin also opposed the idea that he was a “Washington Democrat” and stated that he was concerned about both parties becoming so extreme. He added that what they needed to do was bring “the Grand Old Party” and have it become grand once again, and they needed to make the Democratic party responsible once more. He said both of the major parties have lost their direction and none of their chatter in Washington makes sense. He added, “We don’t live our lives like this.”
Manchin revealed that he has shared his concerns about the direction of the nation with President Joe Biden. He said he expressed to Biden the need to be careful, and many of the bills and orders coming from his generation are from people asking what they can do for the US. He believes that with the country continuing down its current path, people are instead asking what their nation can do for them. He asserted that this is not “who we are” and that this is not what the US is about.
