Judge Decides Gabby Petito's Family Can Sue Brian Laundrie's Family

Judge SHOOTS DOWN Motion From Brian Laundrie’s Parents

(ConservativeHub.com) – In the fall of 2021, a search began for 22-year-old Gabby Petito, who went missing while on a multi-state road trip with her fiancée, Brian Laundrie. During the search for the young woman, Laundrie’s parents released a statement hoping the investigators were “successful” in their endeavors so she could be “reunited with her family.” However, Petito’s parents are now suing the Laundries for making this “particularly callous and cruel” statement. Here’s why.

In March, Joseph Petito and Nichole Schmidt, Gabby Petito’s parents, brought a lawsuit, suing Brian Laundrie’s parents for making an encouraging public statement about the search for Petito when they, allegedly, may have known their son had already killed her. The Petito family believes its daughter’s murderer may have told his parents about his lethal actions within a day or two of killing her. However, his family chose to hire a lawyer rather than bring any information to the police about the killing.

The Laundries hoped to dismiss the suit. However, on Thursday, June 30, Judge Hunter Carroll denied the motion, allowing it to move forward to a jury.

By allowing the suit to move forward, Petito’s parents have the chance to prove that Laundrie’s family intentionally inflicted emotional distress on their family as they searched for their daughter. However, that’s for a jury to decide beyond a reasonable doubt.
