(ConservativeHub.com) – On Thursday, July 25, Vice President Kamala Harris condemned behavior at the Pro-Palestine protests outside Union Station in Washington, D.C., arguing that the acts displayed were “despicable.” The protests had taken place ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech to Congress.
Harris issued a statement noting that she condemns the acts that occurred during the protest, including the Pro-Hamas graffiti. She argued that the individuals involved were associating with Hamas, a “terrorist organization” that was looking to completely “annihilate the State of Israel.” She said that “Pro-Hamas” rhetoric should not be accepted in the United States.
Harris also condemned the burning of the U.S. flag, saying that this is a symbol of the ideals and promise of the United States. She added that it should never be “desecrated” in such a way. The protesters reportedly took down and burned a U.S. flag, which they then replaced with a Palestinian flag.
Harris has stated that she is supportive of peaceful protests but argued that she rejects antisemitism. Following the terrorist attack in Israel last October, there has been a rise in antisemitism across the United States.
Harris issued a strong statement following the protest, as she is now pushing to become the 2024 presidential nominee for the Democratic Party. This development came after President Joe Biden announced that he would no longer be seeking reelection and endorsed Harris. On Thursday afternoon, Harris and Netanyahu were set to have a one-on-one meeting.
Netanyahu was also scheduled to meet with Biden and former president Donald Trump, who is the Republican nominee for 2024.
