(ConservativeHub.com) – Last week, former President Donald Trump was indicted on 34 counts related to alleged hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels. His arraignment took place on April 4. However, a few days earlier, former President Trump’s lawyer refuted Trump’s claims that the judge who handled hush money indictment was acting out of personal bias.

The Hill reported that on March 31, Trump took to his social media network, Truth Social, to heavily criticize New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan. In his post, he said, “The Judge ‘assigned’ to my Witch Hunt Case, a ‘Case’ that has NEVER BEEN CHARGED BEFORE, HATES ME.”

However, Trump’s attorney Joe Tacopina, during a Sunday interview on ABC News’s “This Week” with George Stephanopoulos, claimed that he disagreed with Trump’s assertions adding that he did not “believe the judge is biased.”

When Stephanopoulos then questioned why Trump chose to make this statement, Tacopina said that he personally does not think that the judge is biased, especially since he has not had any interactions with this particular judge that would have led to him forming this opinion.

He added that Trump was “entitled to his own opinion,” and that he was neither Trump’s PR person or spokesperson.

According to The Hill, Merchan had also overseen the criminal tax fraud case against the Trump Organization, which led to its chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg being sentenced to five months in prison after pleading guilty to 15 counts of tax evasion. Trump in his post claimed that Weisselberg had been “railroaded” by the judge into accepting this plea deal.

Tacopina did agree with one of Trump’s statements though, claiming that the indictment was an abuse of power.
