Liz Cheney's Impeachment Vote Backfires

( – The House of Representatives has turned into a whirlwind of controversy in the wake of 10 Republican members voting to approve the Democratic-led impeachment efforts against Donald Trump.

It’s unclear who spearheaded that betrayal. However, as the third-ranking Republican in the House, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) has attracted much of the anger from Republican voters and leaders. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) traveled to Cheney’s home state of Wyoming to encourage Wyoming residents to vote her out of office in 2022.

More recently, 10 of the state’s most heavily-populated counties voted to censure her, according to a report by the Casper Star-Telegram. Officials from Sweetwater County, the state’s largest, wrote that Cheney “betrayed” the trust of Wyoming voters, effectively turning her back on the very people who elected her.

Republican leaders and voters alike are furious with Cheney, and there’s ongoing talk of removing her as the chair of the House Republican Conference.
