Man Arrested for Illegal Tattooing

( – Every now and then, you stumble across a story that makes you stop, scratch your head, and wonder, “what in the world were they thinking?” A perfect example was on display at a South Carolina McDonald’s on August 6 when a man tried to turn the burger joint into a tattoo parlor. For real! Here’s what happened.

On August 10, Laurens, South Carolina police officers arrested Brandon Presha for allegedly tattooing a child inside the local McDonalds the previous Friday. Chief Chrissie Latimore told reporters the incident first came to the attention of the police after several TikTok users tagged some of her investigators in a video showing the child receiving a tattoo.

Police officers weren’t sure how to charge Presha for the incident. “We’ve never had [a case] like this before,” Chief Latimore said. However, they eventually charged him with one count each of illegal tattooing and tattooing a juvenile.

Jailers released Presha on a $25,000 bond. If he’s convicted, he faces a maximum of a year in jail and a $2,500 fine for illegal tattooing, and half a year in jail and a $1,000 fine for tattooing a child.

Colt Strickland, a locally licensed tattoo artist, pointed out the obvious. Getting tattooed outside a clean tattoo parlor presents serious health risks.

On a humorous side note, the Laurens Police Department posted “Case McClosed!!” on its Facebook page to announce the arrest.
