(ConservativeHub.com) – Last week, a Maryland man passed away after receiving critical injuries during a fight to protect his step-son.

On Friday, May 19 at around 5 p.m., 43-year-old Christopher Michael Wright reportedly went up against three teenagers and two adults who showed up at his house and beat him after he refused to allow them to talk to his fiancée son. The 14-year-old boy had reportedly been fighting with another teen at school, and they went to the boy’s house planning to continue what they started. However, Wright refused to let the fight take place.

Tracy Karopchinsky, Wright’s fiancée, revealed to 11 News that after he shot down their request for a fight with the boy, they said they would take it up with Wright instead. According to The Daily Mail, Wright threw the first punch before getting beaten. Karopchinsky’s 12-year-old son also reportedly witnessed the incident. People from the fire department arrived after the group fled to try to address Wright’s wounds, and Anne Arundel County Police responded to emergency calls soon after. The man was then transported to a trauma center in an effort to save his life.

Unfortunately, the next day, Wright died due to brain trauma. According to reports, police have determined the death to be a homicide and they’re encouraging people to step forward with information. Authorities were reportedly looking into multiple white male suspects in their 20s and 30s, as of May 25.

When speaking about the incident, Karopchinsky claimed that there was “no way” punches had done the damage inflicted to Wright. She said that there was nothing the hospital could have done to help him.
