( – A 41-year-old man in the United Kingdom almost ignored a call informing him that he’d won a £2M home because he believed he was getting a spam call. Simon Williams was the latest winner of “Omaze Million Pound House Draw,” winning a renovated cottage in Devon. However, he almost ignored the incoming phone call, thinking it was going to be a spam call. Instead, the call was informing him of the house he won.

While Williams is originally from Kent, he has spent the last 15 years in Sussex, where he lives in a three-bedroom house. As he shared, he got a call from a number he did not know which at first led him to believe that it was a spam call. He added that at the time he had reached his limit with all of these calls which almost resulted in him not answering the phone, but ultimately, he decided to answer.

He said that originally, when he found out he had won, he was in disbelief, but he was very glad to have picked up. According to him, it felt “surreal” to find out that he had won. He added that after the excitement, he needed to lie down and only got through one glass from the bottle of fizz he bought to celebrate before going to bed.

He added that prior to this, the only other thing he had ever won was a PlayStation. He added regarding the experience that he needed to cancel dinner with friends in order to learn from the Omaze team what it was he had won.
