(ConservativeHub.com) – Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) reportedly continues to give her daughter’s company campaign funds. Fox News reported she recently gave the business $24,000. The media outlet claims the representative has paid Progressive Connections, Karen Waters’ company, over $1.2 million since 2003.
According to records secured by Fox News, the money is for campaign services provided by Karen Waters to her mother’s re-election campaign. A filing from Citizens for Waters showed the $24,000 over various payments from January to March of this year.

The company performs slate-mailing, which involves distributing a pamphlet containing information on the election and advising people on how to vote. It is not common in federal elections. Fox News says Waters was the only national candidate to use this tactic in 2020.
There is nothing illegal about employing relatives to work on a campaign. However, some argue that it is ethically questionable and opens the door to potential issues. The Washington Examiner reports that House ethics rules require specific reporting to ensure everything is above board when paying family members for campaign activities.
Waters had a previous issue with using funds to pay family members for work in 2004. Representative Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has also been under fire for paying her husband’s company for work on her campaign. Omar sought an alternative solution to clear up any potential problems, but Waters appears to find no fault with her actions. She told The Washington Post in 2004 that there was nothing wrong with her interfamily business dealings.
