(ConservativeHub.com) – House Speaker McCarthy blasted lawmakers who assisted in passing an omnibus package before the change in Congress. He added that it seems as if President Biden believes that currently all government spending is exact and there is no waste.
On “Life, Liberty & Levin,” McCarthy and host Mark Levin discussed the Republicans’ wish to have cuts in spending. During the segment, Levin asked whether the Democrats’ new plan was now to just add more debt instead of listening to the calls by conservative Republicans for budget cuts and then proceed to blame the GOP for the government shutting down.
McCarthy said that that was their exact plan and that the two senators who had crafted the spending bill were not even in Congress anymore.
Patrick Leahy, Congress’ Senate Budget Committee Chairman, and ranking member Richard Shelby, R-Ala., who had written the spending bill are now retired. While Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., became the new chairman in January.
During the interview, McCarthy also targeted Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), who he complained has never actually created a budget to determine where the money would go.
McCarthy added that on top of everything else, there is a President who is completely unwilling to negotiate any of the government’s spending. McCarthy also added that these bills did not even have to pass through the committees despite the fact that they increased spending by $1.5 trillion within the next 10 years.
President Biden has repeatedly said that there would not be discussions about any big spending cuts. During an event in Virginia on Thursday, he had specifically said that he would “veto everything they send,” according to Fox News.
