(ConservativeHub.com) – It’s a parent’s worst nightmare to wake in the morning to find their child missing from their bed. This scenario happened to one couple while camping at a remote site near Australia’s Coral Coast, about 560 miles north of Perth. However, after an intense police search, officers found the child alive and mostly well just a few weeks later.
In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 16, 4-year-old Cleo Smith went missing from her family’s camping tent. When her parents woke up in the morning, the tent door was open, and they could not find their daughter anywhere. Police immediately searched the surrounding area but did not find her. From there, thousands of people began banding together to aid in the search.
Eventually, the evidence police collected led them to a house, where officers found Cleo in a locked room, alive and well. The BBC shared the news as it broke:

Eighteen days after she went missing, the officers reunited Cleo with her parents. As of November 4, police have charged a 36-year-old man in her kidnapping. All those supporting the search effort were immensely relieved to see the happy ending to this nerve-wracking story.
