(ConservativeHub.com) – Democrats managed to force through President Biden’s $1.9 trillion relief package without any Republican votes using a procedure called reconciliation. They appear ready to attempt the same thing with his roughly $2.3 trillion infrastructure bill. However, it appears they won’t be able to get much else through Congress without Republican support.
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) is currently working with Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) to draft legislation raising the minimum wage. Romney confirmed their joint effort to Huffington Post on April 14, but refused to detail the bill’s contents.
Senate Democrats have had little success finding agreement among themselves on how much to increase the federal minimum wage. https://t.co/KZNEix6aat

He did say that once they come up with an acceptable proposal, they will take it to a bipartisan group of 20 other senators to see what they think about the idea.
With the Senate currently deadlocked at 50/50, this strategy might help Republicans pass other bills in the future if Romney can be trusted to fight for conservative principals. Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) votes with the Republicans sometimes, and if Romney could persuade Sinema to jump ship on occasion, too, this could be exactly what Republicans need moving forward.
