(ConservativeHub.com) – Adam Montgomery, a 33-year-old resident of New Hampshire, pleaded not guilty in October to charges of second-degree murder, falsifying physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. These charges stem from disturbing allegations that he not only concealed the lifeless body of his 5-year-old daughter, Harmony Montgomery, but also disposed of it, attempting to erase any evidence of his crime.
As the details of this tragic case continue to unfold, a recently released police affidavit sheds light on what’s believed to have happened. Harmony Montgomery was first reported missing in November 2021. However, after an extensive investigation, law enforcement now believes that she died two years prior.. Yet, despite the tireless efforts of investigators, Harmony’s remains remain undiscovered, denying closure to her loved ones.
Initially, the prosecutors sought to keep the evidence of the case under wraps. However, in a surprising turn of events, a judge decided to release the carefully guarded affidavit on Tuesday, granting the public a glimpse into the depths of this tragedy. This decision was partly prompted by a public records request made by WMUR-TV.
Within the pages of the affidavit, a significant portion is dedicated to the chilling statements made by Kayla Montgomery, the estranged wife of Adam Montgomery. Kayla, at the age of 32, decided to cooperate fully with the prosecutors, offering insights into the events surrounding Harmony’s death. It is worth noting that Kayla herself had entered into a plea deal in an unrelated perjury case, choosing to confront her own transgressions in exchange for the pursuit of justice for her stepdaughter.
In her testimony, Kayla revealed a narrative of abuse and tragedy. According to her account, on December 7, 2019, when the family was homeless and living in their car, Adam Montgomery unleashed a brutal assault on Harmony. The child, who had multiple accidents in the car, became the target of his rage, and he allegedly struck her face repeatedly.
The nightmare did not end there. Apparently, the couple came to the realization several hours later that she had succumbed to her injuries and died. Adam Montgomery, as Kayla tearfully recounted, placed the lifeless body of their daughter inside a duffel bag, sealing her fate within its confines.
During their investigation, authorities uncovered a series of disturbing actions undertaken by Adam Montgomery. Over the span of three months, he moved Harmony’s remains between various undisclosed locations to avoid discovery. At one point, he sealed his daughter’s remains within the walls of a hospital maternity ward.
However, as the investigation unfolded, more information began to emerge. Although Harmony’s remains have not been found at the time of this writing, the mounting evidence points towards a grim conclusion. Authorities firmly believe that Adam Montgomery, driven by a desire to erase all traces of the crime, disposed of Harmony’s body in early March 2020.
