Murder Convict Connected to Multiple Cold Cases, Police Say

( – People are often creatures of habit, returning to the same activities time and time again. For one man serving jail time in Virginia, his habit turned out to be a lethal one. He just confessed to killing multiple different people in the Maryland and Virginia area over the past few decades.

On Wednesday, January 19, Fairfax County, Virginia’s Police Chief Kevin Davis announced that prosecutors charged convicted murderer Charles Helem with two additional cold case homicides. Helem is already in jail for life for the 2002 murder of 37-year-old single mother Patricia Bentley. However, he just confessed to killing Eige Sober-Adler in Herndon, Virginia in 1987.

But, Helem wasn’t finished talking to investigators yet. He also confessed to murdering 19-year-old Jennifer Landry in August 2002. The investigations for both of these cases had gone cold years ago, until now. The New York Post shared more about these terrifying confessions:

While Helem has confessed to three murders so far, police are working to see if there are any other people he may have killed. Fairfax County Commonwealth Attorney Steve Descano reportedly spoke about victim Sober-Adler, saying he hopes this will bring a bit of closure to the family, since her time on Earth was cut short.
