New Name Takes the Spotlight in John Durham Investigation

(ConservativeHub.com) – Special Counsel John Durham filed an indictment against Russian operative Igor Danchenko on November 3 as part of his probe into the FBI’s investigation of Russia’s alleged connection to the 2016 Trump campaign. Court documents revealed that former Clinton operative Charles Dolan, Jr. provided fictitious information for some of the now-infamous Steele Dossier. Former Trump administration official Fiona Hill’s name also appeared in the government’s charging documents.

Durham’s team alleged in the indictment Hill introduced Danchenko to former British MI6 agent Christopher Steele, the author of the widely disputed Steele Dossier. Hill served as former President Donald Trump’s senior director for Europe and Russia and as a member of the National Security Council.

Fiona Hill, who worked with Danchenko for years before serving as the Russia expert on Trump’s National Security Council, introduced Dachenko and Steele a decade ago.

Hill also served as a witness against the former president during House hearings, which eventually led to Trump’s first impeachment trial in January 2020. The Senate acquitted Trump the following month by an overwhelming majority vote.

News of Hill’s involvement in the creation of the Steele Dossier has some Republicans questioning the truthfulness of her congressional testimony. For example, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) told Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) that he wants to “go back and review” Hill’s remarks.

Mark Meadows, Trump’s former chief of staff, echoed those concerns. He told reporters he and Jordan were working together to review Hill’s testimony. He also confirmed he and Jordan had already interviewed some witnesses regarding their knowledge of Hill’s congressional testimony.

The wheels of justice continue to grind through the maze of accusations and questionable testimony surrounding Democratic-led efforts to discredit President Trump. Thankfully, Special Counsel Durham appears to be well-suited for the task of getting to the truth.
